Enhancing Hardware Compatibility: Best Practices and Tools for Dasharo HCL Maintainers
Piotr Król

Maintaining an up-to-date and precise Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) is crucial in the realm of open-source firmware. This talk aims to demystify the process of managing the Dasharo HCL, focusing on best practices and tools, specifically covering insights from the Dasharo HCL Maintainer documentation.

Participants will learn about the essential scripts and methodologies used for parsing and updating HCL reports and how to extend and maintain the list efficiently. We will highlight the utilization of tools such as the DTS Hardware Configuration Generator (dts-hw-conf-gen) that streamline the compatibility verification and reporting process. Attendees will be equipped with the knowledge to contribute effectively to the Dasharo firmware ecosystem, ensuring robust compatibility and seamless user experience. This talk particularly benefits developers and maintainers invested in hardware compatibility and open-source firmware development.

NovaCustom: update about the new V Series, NVIDIA variants, Qubes OS support and other features
Wessel klein Snakenborg

NovaCustom has launched the new V54 and V56 Series a few months ago. The Dasharo firmware developers team is still dedicated to introduce new features for these new series, such as support for the NVIDIA variants, Qubes OS support to obtain certification and EC firmware updates via coreboot. But these are not the only features that we would like to introduce. Additionally, we still continue the support for older NovaCustom laptops that have reached the end of their production. During this presentation, you will discover what functions are planned and in which order they will be planned.

Having so many goals is challenging and leads to unavoidable delays, which can be disappointing for clients. During this talk, we will also have a look back to the last few months and let you know what we have learned from the experience.

Security assessment on Arm platforms
Stuart Yoder

Security assessment tooling such as LFVS HSI and Chipsec rely on standard security mechanisms that can be directly inspected by a tool. Due to the diversity of Arm-based hardware platforms doing direct inspection is difficult. This presentation discusses work underway to evaluate how security assessment could be done on Arm platforms and work towards a solution.
