Qubes OS Summit 2025

Fast and fresh disposable qubes
2025-09-27 , Social Hub Main Room

Have you ever considered that a dangerous file or workflow should be done on a fresh disposable but you always thought it was slow and not worth it, executing the action on the same qube? This will change. No more slowness! No lack of isolation! No reuse of named disposables! Preloaded disposables to the rescue.

These are special unnamed disposables that are queued in the background, its lifecycle is managed automatically and it's use is transparent to the client. Scripts and workflow can remain intact, no API breakage.

We are going to embark in a journey though the Admin API, understand conceptually what made preloaded disposables possible, live demonstration, GUI modifications and benchmark data. If there is time, we will dive deeper into the Admin API.
